First on Fox: A group of 19 Virginia sheriffs leave political weight behind Current Attorney General Jason Miyares challenged him in November before the Democratic nomination.
“The choice is clear. The decision is our decision,” the Virginia Sheriff’s Team said in a letter to colleagues a few days after elementary school.
The sheriff praised Miyares for “commitment to the Virginia law enforcement community and first responders” and urged their fellow Virginia to merge behind the authorized deputy attorney general granted by the current attorney general.
Jones is a former assistant attorney general whose campaign focuses on protecting Virginia from the president Donald Trump’s administrative. In a letter to the Virginia Sheriff, 19 sheriffs formed Jones’ policy platform as anti-law enforcement.

“Jay Jones has bluntly advocated weapons of many weapons to weaken the law enforcement community in Virginia, replacing prosecutors with a social worker who put criminals first and victims die at the end. They touted “the enormous progress Virginia’s law enforcement professionals have made over the past four years” and the sheriff urged their colleagues to stop Jones from returning to “waste labor, violence, violence and illegal drug activities.”
“We ask you to join the law enforcement community of many of us to unite and support our support for Attorney General Jason Miyares and ask every member of the Virginia law enforcement community to remind our friends, family and local communities to remember the differences for four years. In the letter, the sheriff outlined legislation Jones supported, who said “is intended to fail the Virginia family.”
These policies include investigating “model and practice” violations in law enforcement, causing “direct harm to Virginians” through enhanced sentencing credit (EESC), eliminating cashless bail and supporting qualified immunity, which they say will make litigation for police violations of civil rights.
They also detailed Jones’ support to eliminate the mandatory minimum sentence for selling drugs to schools and school resource officials (SROS), which they say makes schools even more dangerous.

Virginia is one of two states to hold statewide elections this year, and the election results will be used as a leader before the 2026 midterm elections.
During the campaign, Jones expressed appreciation for how the Attorney General sued the Trump administration for unlocking federal funds and refused to over-revoke executives, but in Virginia, Magma Extremist Attorney General Jason Miyares put politics first and refused to join efforts against Trump policies that violated unconstitutional and unconstitutional Trump. ”

Jones did not immediately respond to Fox News numbers’ request for comment.
