19 Virginia Sheriff Recognizes Democratic Jones in Attorney General’s Campaign

First on Fox: A group of 19 Virginia sheriffs leave political weight behind Current Attorney General Jason Miyares challenged him in November before the Democratic nomination.

“The choice is clear. The decision is our decision,” the Virginia Sheriff’s Team said in a letter to colleagues a few days after elementary school.

The sheriff praised Miyares for “commitment to the Virginia law enforcement community and first responders” and urged their fellow Virginia to merge behind the authorized deputy attorney general granted by the current attorney general.

Jones is a former assistant attorney general whose campaign focuses on protecting Virginia from the president Donald Trump’s administrative. In a letter to the Virginia Sheriff, 19 sheriffs formed Jones’ policy platform as anti-law enforcement.

They also detailed Jones’ support to eliminate the mandatory minimum sentence for selling drugs to schools and school resource officials (SROS), which they say makes schools even more dangerous.

Virginia is one of two states to hold statewide elections this year, and the election results will be used as a leader before the 2026 midterm elections.
