Matty Healy, the lead singer of the British rock band in 1975, told fans at Glastonbury Festival Friday night that the group would no longer inject politics into their Live performance. Despite Healy’s assertions, politically rife visuals soon emerged.
The rock singer spoke to the crowd after the opening remarks, noting that while some may be disappointed with the “lack of politics,” the band told fans that the band wanted to move on and make sure their legacy “is not one of the politics.”
“The people watching this May – I don’t know – they may be disappointed with the lack of politics in this show and the upcoming shows and our future performances. I hope you know it’s a conscious decision,” he Tell the crowd. “Honestly, we don’t want our legacy to be one of politics. We want it to be the politics of love and friendship. I’m not trying to be too serious, but you can get into the world, there’s politics everywhere. I don’t think we need more politics. We need more love and friendship.”

Not only will they lead to their canceled three-day festival, but the band is banned from performing in Malaysia, but it may have negative impacts on the country’s LGBTQ identification citizens.
As Variety reports, some locals are concerned that the band’s actions could lead to further government crackdown on their gay citizens.
In response to the incident, a spokesperson for the band told Variety: “Matty has long advocated for the LGBTQ+ community, and the band wants to support their LGBTQ+ fans and communities.”
According to the entertainment website nme.comwhen Trump won in 2016, Healy cried. He added: “I’m tired and we feel a little beaten.”
