Emanuel Mavarrete defended his WBO super lightweight championship tonight at the main event in San Diego to face his first contender, Charly Suarez. Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 KOS) will be on his WBO 130-pound belt against Suarez (18-0, 10 KOS) for the fourth defense Baganga Arena.
The card will be Living on ESPN and ESPN+ 10:00 ET | 7:00 PM tonight. The estimated ring walk time for Navarrete to fight Suarez is 11:00 ET. The preliminary card starts at 5:30 PM ET/2:30 PM.
Main Event Preview: Navarrete vs. Suarez
Given Suarez’s weak resume, there are not many fights in Navarrete tonight. Fans are not familiar with Suarez because he has not beaten any significant objections in his six-year career. He is not 36 years younger and can have such a barren resume. On the surface, Suarez could easily become Navarrete (Navarrete)

Fans would rather Navarrete Milk his title With another weak opponent. In his last fight with Navarrete, he held out an unnecessary match against Oscar Valdez in December, shutting him out in 2023.
Joint Activities: Muratalla v. Abdarav
The main support between lightweight contenders Raymond Muratalla (22-0, 17 KOS) and Zaur Abdullaev (20-1, 20-1, 12 KOS). They will fight for the vacant IBF Interim 135 pounds championship. Muratalla loves winning the conflict and then may improve to full champion status as the IBF lightweight champion if Vasily Lomachenko doesn’t return from the quit to defend him.
Why 30-year-old Navarrete chose to retain the WBO 130-pound title instead of following other belts in the super lightweight range is understandable. World Boxing ranks competitors as the weakest of the four sanctioning agencies.
WBO’s rankings are reversed, with hit-and-pull competitors at the top, and a dangerous competitor rated as talented below. This is an ideal situation for a flawed champion like Navarrete to hold a title longer than usual. WBO’s Raymond Ford ranked 7th, with Eduardo ‘Sugar’Nunez rating of 9. These two are the biggest threats Navarrete has to dominate him, but for some reason the WBO ranks low.
