Tennis Star Jessica Pegula Calls social media users who send athletes threatening messages based on their court shows.
Pegula, 31, shares a thread by his Instagram stories on Wednesday, June 4, which includes screenshots of certain messages he claimed after his fourth round of French Open on Monday. He noticed that comments typically come from sports makers.
“These (bettors) are crazy and fraudulent,” Pegula’s letter. “And I don’t allow DMS and try to remember when my comments in the tournament weeks but always scare my timeline on my level.
Screens show comments calling him a “trash,” “lower class” and a wasting oxygen. A user also shared an image reading “you die.”
“You sell this match on purpose,” another commerce wrote. “Can’t wait till Karma spends with you. May your first child bareback.”
Pegula added that he is not the tennis pro to receive such messages.
“Everybody on the tour deals with it. Very bad,” he wrote. “It was just the little snippets. I told my family should get cancer and die from people here on a regular basis.”
“Again I’m glad these things never got me (not reasoning stupidly) but it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t go to other players or it’s not good,” continued to keep Pegula. “If fans get us as athletes that are more powerful and other and others you know people who haven’t died and hope your born child.”
Pegula also meant that social media avoiding an option for a professional athlete.
“And don’t say ‘stay off social media’ Well it’s unavoidable because our careers and sponsors are based off of posting on social media. These are comments I get with my DMS and comments turned off,” She concluded.
