Fox News learned that 500 U.S. Marine battalions mobilized Los Angeles to deal with anti-immigrant law enforcement riots.
A senior defense official said the Marine Corps’ mission is to protect federal property and federal personnel and the deployment is open.
The Marines will not hold law enforcement positions, but it is unclear whether their use of the rules of force is whether protesters throw things or spit them out.

New deployments are taking place after President Donald Trump sent about 2,000 National Guards to the riot city over the weekend.
The Marines are from the 2nd Battalion of the Twenty-Nine Palm Trees in California, the Seventh Marine Corps.

A moment before the deployment, Trump expressed optimism that the situation in Los Angeles was improving.
“I mean, I think we can control it well,” he told reporters. “I think it’s going to be a very bad situation. It’s going in the wrong direction. It’s going in the right direction now.”
