At WWDC 2025, Apple showed Off a new AI-operated shortcut.
The company says shortcuts can now touch on Apple Intelligence directly, and developers will be able to access Apple’s large language model (LLM).
With shortcuts, users will be able to access the AI models either in a device or with a private computer to generate answers that feed on the rest of their shortcut. For example, a student could create a shortcut that uses AI to compare his audio transcription of his class lecture to his notes, then add key points they missed. They can also hit in Chatgpt to provide additional answers that feed the input of their shortcut.
Users will be able to insert smart actions that are a new type of shortcut that is enabled by Apple Intelligence. For example, there are dedicated actions like those to summarize text with AI (Apple Intelligence) or create images with a picture playground.
Apple says the new features are available for testing from Monday.
The AI-A-Audited Shortcut follows the company Announcement last year by AI-enhanced update to its virtual assistant Siri, offering more personality functions and support. However Apple then repulsed the launchsaying that it will take longer to deliver than anticipated.
At WWDC 2025, the company Continued Make AI promises, including the introduction of an updated version of its shortcut for script and automation.
These AI changes could do Shortcuts Easier to use for the less technically inclined, which probably avoided using the application, which has so far been more of a power user’s gear.
For example, popular shortcuts today can help you do things like doing custom selves or gifs, create meeting notes, track time spent for some activities, create game lists, save PDFs, find out where there was taken photo, set up places based on a location, hurry, combine screenshots, shorten URLs, download files, save files, save.
The upgrade could also work as something of a cessation for Apple’s delays to fully upgrade Siri with AI capabilities, as the exploitation of AI-assisted automation could make the use of the iPhone at least feel more efficient. (If you are ready to put the job around a shortcut, that is.)
