Texas Community Is The city council decided to fire their last policeman with more drama.
Hawkins City Council voted to terminate last employee on Monday Hawkins Police Department, Lieutenant Eric Touma.
According to the Council’s agenda bill, the termination of Tuma is based on the basis of “debt of oath duty” and “revocation of posts.”

“I was upset and couldn’t believe it,” Council member Eric Maloy told Ketke after the meeting. “They wanted our police to come back. They miss them. Community, citizens.”
According to KLTV, Maloy shared that Tuma recently took a break and notified the city and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office of absenteeism.

After resigning in February 2024, Hokas native Tuma previously served as interim director of the police department. Two other police officers and city court judge Kyle Waggner resigned.
Hawkins is an East Texas community of 1,300 people, located 20 miles north of Tyler, Texas.
Tuma’s termination came in February when three other officers were fired, noting that the decision was based on a decision of “improper hiring practices and a desire to start from the right path.”
