The Phillies outfielder had a fierce exchange with Philadelphia manager Rob Thomson during the team’s 5-2 victory over the Marlins on Monday. Thomson quoted “inappropriate comments” by Castellanos, which seemed to prompt the manager to sit down the star right-winger for at least one game. The comment was posted at some point after withdrawing from Castellanos on Monday’s game.

“One of the many things about Nick is that he’s very excited,” Thomson said. “He loves the game, he loves playing every inning of every game. I just think he made an inappropriate comment after he came out last night, so he won’t play today. I’m going to keep it.”

Max Kepler moved away from his position at Centerfield to Castellanos’ correct field duties. Meanwhile, Johan Rojas became the new midfielder for the game. Kepler began on Tuesday in the right field In Miami.

Castellanos signed a huge five-year contract with the Phillies in 2022. The 33-year-old outfielder averaged .278 hits and has hit seven home runs in 72 games this season.
Castellanos hasn’t missed a single match since September 30, 2023.
