The FBI should “make justice for John O’Keefe,” the jurors demanding to remain anonymous said.

“No one should be involved in the investigation,” the juror said. “It’s lazy police work…we should start some type of investigation into what’s going on in that house.”

Special Attorney Hank Brennan asked for reading after his sentence to a year of probation and enrollment for the 24D outpatient program, the first routine activity for the crime of drunk driving.

The highest charge of second-degree murder was acquitted after nearly a month of testimony and four days of jury deliberation. Prosecutors alleged that they had killed her boyfriend O’Keefe on January 29, 2022, when she was drunk driving a car during a snowstorm.

On the morning of January 29, O’Keeffe’s body was found lying in the snow. Kerry Roberts and Jennifer McCabe testified against Read, saying she told them that O’Keefe was missing when she called them on January 29.

McCabe claimed in court that Read repeatedly said, “I hit him” and that O’Keefe was missing. Nuttall, a paramedic, said he eavesdropped on “I hit him” three times.

According to witnesses, Read and O’Keefe drank with friends, including McCabe, on the evening of January 28. The couple was invited to a party at Brian Albert’s house, but they didn’t.

Read insisted during the trial that Read never hit O’Keefe, but blamed his injury on arguing with other men at the party.
