Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio Telling “Fox News @ Night” Wednesday, he believed concerns about Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the Democratic primary were greatly exaggerated.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist, has been recognized Bernie Sanders Alexandria Ocasio Cortez won the New York City Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday after former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo admitted the game.
While the outcome of the game still needs to be decided in the rankings on July 1, Mamdani’s left-wing policy proposals have caused anxiety among more moderate Democrats.

De Blasio downplayed these concerns, saying many of Mamdani’s proposals, such as creating a free bus network, expanding grocery stores and implementing rent controls, have been tried in other cities.

“These are not amazing ideas. If he wants to tax, he has to get approval from the legislature. They may or may not give it.”
“I just think there’s a lot of exaggeration here. We won’t see people get stuck,” De Blasio said. “They said, when I’m the mayor, it’s going to happen. It’s not going to happen. I just don’t buy it.”
De Blasio, who served as New York City Mayor between 2014 and 2022, believes Mamdani’s success is due to his focus on “kitchen table issues” – Democrats pay for the price of forgetting 2024 Election Cycle.

“It’s a guy who actually talks about affordability all day long, about rent. He talks about the foundations of life, the whole thing people are trying to make a living,” de Blasio said.
The former mayor predicts that police will not refund the expected Mamdani government.

“I think in the end, he’s going to focus on what New Yorkers want in the ideological range here every day, because the place is very expensive and the working class and middle class people are working hard to live here,” De Blasio said.
