Tesla Manufacturing Head OMEAD AFSHAR fired by Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk CNBC has fired Omead Afshar, vice president of manufacturing and operations at automakers, since confirming that auto sales in major markets have fallen this year.

According to the internal organization chart viewed by CNBC, Afshar, who reported directly to Musk, led a team of more than six senior employees.

Executives on the AFSHAR team include Troy Jones, Tesla’s vice president of North American sales, and Joe Ward, vice president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Karen Steakley is also his team, who now leads Tesla’s business development and policy, and has previously served as deputy director of legislative affairs for Greg Abbott, Republican Governor of Texas.

CNBC contacted AFSHAR and other Tesla executives and board members. They did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
