Andrew Cuomo No exit from the mayor of New York City.
Cuomo, the former three-time governor of New York, resigned in multiple scandals in 2021 and has decided to confirm to Fox News on Thursday night that he has continued to run the election as an independent candidate.
Cuomo’s announcement comes two days after progressive upstart Zohran Mamdani shocked the political world when he played Cuomo and 11 other candidate fields for New York City’s Democratic mayor, and took a significant step forward and took the first Muslim mayor to become the most popular city in the United States.
Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist state legislator from Queens, initially praised from Uganda, received 43.5% of the first round of unofficial main results, and 36.4% of Cuomo.

Although he acknowledged Mandani’s victory in the primary, Cuomo opened the door as an independent candidate, announcing an independent candidate in the New York State license.
“I want to see them in and analyze all the numbers for ranking selection votes. I will then consult with my colleagues about the best ways to help New York City, as I’m already eligible to run for mayor in November on the Independence Line in November.”
Cuomo faces a deadline ending Friday, rejecting the independence voting line for candidates who already qualify for running as an independent.
The former governor will retain the position he received on the “Fight and Delivery” voting line earlier this year. But sources said Cuomo has not yet promised an active election campaign throughout the summer and fall.
If Cuomo exits the competition later, his name will remain in the election vote.

Once a long photo of the game, Mamdani closed the gap with Cuomo in the final game of the primary, thanks to a dynamic sport that focused in part on the high cost of living in New York City.
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a progressive rock star and New York City’s most prominent leader, and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a progressive champion and two-time Democratic presidential runner-up, helped many at the Democratic Democratic Base Base in New York,
What does Mamdani’s amazing major victory mean for Democrats nationwide
Mamdani won a wave of support from young and first-time voters, making herself the No. 1 spot.
“I will be the mayor of every New Yorker,” Mandani said in his victory speech. “Whether you vote for me, or for Governor Cuomo, or completely disillusioned with a long-breaking political system that cannot vote, I will fight for a city that serves you, which is affordable for you, and it is safe for you.”
Since none of the candidates exceed 50%, it is technically possible to eliminate the rankings of rankings now. However, with the ranking selection list starting July 1, the total number of Mamdani and other consistent progress candidates may be enough to overturn Cuomo.
Cuomo saw the writing on the wall, admitted his failure and praised Mamdani as the initial main results poured in on Tuesday and told supporters: “Tonight is his night. He deserves it. He wins.”
But Cuomo pointed out in an interview with New York CBS on Wednesday: “In the general election, more and more people are voting. It’s a wider pool if you want to.”
“There are about 5 million voters in New York City, about 8 million in New York City, and about 1 million people vote in the Democratic primary. So that’s not necessarily the representative of the entire city,” the former governor said.

And a poll from an advisory and lobbying group that, in line with an outside group supporting Cuomo, released a poll on Thursday that showed Mamdani and Cuomo were tied to a possible election showdown with current mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat who is an independent-independent election-Republican mayor curtis sliway sliwa far back.
Sliwa, the founder of the Volunteer Crime Patrol and known as the Guardian Angels, is the Republican nominee for the second consecutive election cycle. As an independent man this November, Jim Walden, also a former federal prosecutor.
“I think everyone has room because in the end, we’re going to win,” Mamdani said in an interview with Fox News Affiliate WNYW in New York on Thursday.
Cuomo, 67, has been working to clean up his name for the past four years, a 11 sexual harassment allegations he has repeatedly denied, forcing him to resign. At the time, he was still investigating the common 19th pandemic after he was understated by a low-key co-related death allegation in the government’s state nursing home.
Last month, the Justice Department conducted a criminal investigation into Cuomo after Republicans accused him of lying to Congress as governor during the coronavirus pandemic.
Cuomo, thanks to his name recognition, was a leader in polls even before the campaign was announced earlier this year. But he conducted a safe campaign that relies on union support, and he shys away from regular interactions with local or national media.
Meanwhile, Mamdani hired social media platforms including Tiktok, when he hired major voters. He proposed to eliminate fares to ride New York City’s vast bus system, leaving CUNY (University of New York City) “no tuition fees,” freeze rents on municipal housing, provide “free parenting” for children under five years of age, and establish a government-run grocery store.

“This is not a city that is not socialist,” Adams said on Thursday, apparently jabs in Mamdani’s proposal.
“Someone gives you nothing dignity for free. Give you a job with dignity, so you can offer opportunities for your family and the opportunities you deserve. This is not a handout city. It is a city of strength.”

Adams’ poll numbers have fallen into five charges even before being indicted last year, accusing the mayor of bribery and fraud as part of an alleged “long-term” plan to profit from personal contact with foreign officials.
Mayor repeatedly makes suggestions to the president Donald Trump, The Justice Department dismissed allegations of corruption earlier this year, so it is possible for Adams to engage in an illegal immigration crackdown with the Trump administration.
He announced in early April that he would be re-election by independence and abandoning the Democratic primary.
