Germany told Apple and Google to remove Chinese AI -App Deepseek from their app stores in the country, saying that the app’s information is transferring users’ information to China illegally, Reuters Reported.
Meike Kamp, the commissioner for data protection from Germany, told companies that Deepseek did not give “convincing evidence” that users’ data was protected as required by EU laws, the report said.
“Chinese authorities have great access to personal data in the sphere of influence of Chinese companies,” Kamp said, adding that the two technology companies must now decide whether to remove the application.
Kamp said her office asked Deepseek to complete EU laws on transferring data outside the block or pulling its application from the country, but the Chinese company did not.
Italy earlier this year Forbidden Deepseek of app stores in the country, citing similar data protection concerns.
