As a child in the 80s, I was fascinated by Star TrekEspecially the idea of traveling faster than light. It was pure imagination, but it made me believe that even the laws of physics could be rewritten with the right technology. I studied computer science and bioinformatics and hoped to build the engines of this future.
Fast lead to this day we live in this future and even more. Ai did not arrive quietly. It exploded, the industries, the game books described and wiped out greetings for decades. We do not only accelerate; We have reached the top speed. Here is the paradox: the more powerful AI becomes, the more valuable our creativity, empathy and human connection. Being human is the edge.
From linear to ridiculous speed
In 2018 I believed that the convergence of sensors, calculation and robotics would compress decades of progress in years. I was too conservative. The acceleration is now exponentially. AI not only analyzes data, but looks at what we cannot. Context windows have grown around 100 × in two years, so that models can process entire code bases or simulate workflows in seconds. The cost of running massive models dropped 1000 ×, which brought the once laboratory tech into the hands of solo developers.
Then came the Agentic AI, digital experts who not only react to input requests, but also carry out autonomous research, reason and execution of entire projects. When the top engineers told me they had stopped coding because their AI agents were so good, I thought they joked. They weren’t.
And that’s still just the beginning. The latest video model from Google, VEO3, generates Visuals that are so realistic that they cannot be distinguished from reality. We are not forward, we are skipping industries. Every time you find a stable floor, it shifts.
Narrow in the land of abundance
Everyone likes to talk about how AI promotes abundance. But paradoxically, the most powerful skills are already scarce. Calculation, energy and networking – the infrastructure -KI needs – are not fast enough to meet demand. The execution of a network of AI agents is not as traditional software. Sensions are more expensive.
We already see it. People who once repaid software with 10 US dollars a month now issue 200 US dollars or more for Premium -KI tools. These prices are still subsidized after ambitions to the growth stage. When companies switch to profitability and increase prices, many users continue to pay. Why? Because the value is real.
This means that intelligence itself is layered. The best AI will not be universal in the next three to five years. It will be a luxury. This changes the entire economy of knowledge.
The Art vs. Science Flip
When AI uses technical work, the human judgment becomes the last real moat. For decades, the Saint Grail was technical skills. Now AI can replicate a lot of it immediately.
But AI doesn’t know which problem can be solved. It cannot predict what resonates. No room can read. This is the domain of man: the manager who feels when it should turn, the founder who tackled the product market in front of the metrics, the storyteller who moves a space, the guide who deserves trust in a single conversation. These are not code lines. They are moments of human clarity.
This shift turns the value stack. Skills that once deserved the highest salaries are marketed. What is irreplaceable is the judgment that is deserved by thousands of ambiguous decisions. Those who bend into their experience and intuition become the real power players. All others risk becoming middleware, human interfaces between AI engines, unless you discover your edge again.
The speed time
In this new landscape, speed is the only sustainable advantage. AI skills develop monthly. Market assumptions break quarterly. The disorder now comes from two people who use stacks with bleeding to send faster than any incumbent can react.
I saw that it happened. Developer tools such as Github Copilot, which were introduced with large fanfare, were quickly overtaken by startups such as Augment Code. They moved faster, broke out with traditional coding paradigms and built up native for this new era. When others reacted, the market had already moved on.
Speed is no longer a bonus. It is survival. The companies that build for speed and can make major decisions in days and not in quarter will be those that take.
The human edge in the age of the AI
This is not just another tech cycle. Cloud, Mobile, Crypto – these changed our access to information. The AI revolution changes our decision and action. It is the redesign of economic power to calculate access and ironically increases the value of unique human insights.
For managers, this means that creativity, intuition and human connection prioritize existing technical skills. For investors, this means to bet on founders who can move quickly and have a good intuition. It is a wake -up call for everyone else: the machines can encode, write and convey. But they cannot be human.
This is not a mistake. That makes us indispensable.
