Los Angeles Charger Head Coach Jim Harbor Friday was added to a lawsuit against his former employer, the University of Michigan, and a former assistant football coach accused of hacking computer systems to obtain photos of college athletes.
Lawyer asks Harbaugh to allow Matt Weiss Continue to serve as co-attack coordinator in the national playoffs after viewing private information on computers in December 2022.
“The university takes meaningful protection action delays until the high-risk game sends out a clear message: student welfare is secondary,” said Parker Stinar, chief attorney in the class action lawsuit arising from a criminal investigation against Weiss.

“If Harbour had basic oversight of his employees, plaintiffs and classes, it would be protected from predators like Weiss,” the updated lawsuit states. “Instead, Weiss is a highly compensated asset promoted by the football program, where he was able and mastered the position of female student-athletes.”
News from the Associated Press seeking comments from Harbaugh and Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel did not return immediately Friday.
The lawsuit alleges that a staff member saw Weiss viewing private information at the football team headquarters Schembechler Hall around December 21, 2022, and reported this in Michigan during the Dec. 31 playoff game.

A few weeks later, Weiss was fired while investigating his computer use.
Earlier this year, after the charges were filed, Harbour told reporters that he knew nothing about Weiss’ trouble until after the playoffs. He said the allegations were shocking.
Harbo said: “Just shocked, total shock. In the video Shared by the team. “After I discovered the TCU game, we found out there were allegations,” he added. “You said it. I mean, prosecution, it’s not a word, sympathize with the victim and Matt’s family. It’s shocking.”
Weiss, 42, was fired for more than two years in a coaching position in Harbaugh, announced the indictment this month, after an investigation into the alleged crime.

According to the indictment, Weiss “gained access to more than 100 student-athletes databases of colleges and universities maintained by third-party suppliers.” He then allegedly downloaded personal information and data from 150,000 athletes. From there, Weiss was able to access information from more than 2,000 athletes, including access to their social media, email and cloud storage.
Weiss was accused of using the information to download “personal, intimate digital photos and videos that were never intended to surpass close partners.” The alleged crime occurred between 2015 and January 2023, and he allegedly targeted women.

Weiss was fired in 2023 for failing to cooperate with the school investigation, and he did not plead guilty.
Weiss works for Harbaugh’s brother John, on the coaching staff of the NFL Baltimore Ravens in 2021.
The lawsuit says Weiss University’s computers have part of the investigation and must be disabled by external vendors. Authorities revealed in April that thousands of intimate photos and videos were found on his electronic devices and cloud storage account.

The NCAA had issued a four-year gig order against Harbaugh after determining that coaches are not allowed to contact recruits and players during COVID-19 restrictions. The organization determined that Harbaugh “has engaged in immoral behavior, failed to promote a compliant atmosphere, and violated head coach liability obligations.”
Prior to this, Harbaugh and Michigan were not allowed to face-to-face reconnaissance and Theft charge This threw a shadow on Michigan’s 2024 national champion. The Big Ten Conference eventually gave Harbaugh three games to pause.
