Chris Eubank and Conor Benn will hold a rematch in London on September 20. This battle will be competed for 160 for a 10-pound rehydration clause, making Benn (23-1, 14 KOS) a obstacle.
Unnecessary sequel: No bets
Turki Alalshikh announced the Eubank vs. Benn 2 rematch earlier today, and surprisingly, the reaction was overwhelmingly negative. The general feeling is that Eubank (35-3, 25 Kos) convincingly beat Benn in 12 rounds of unanimous decisions last April. A rematch was seen as totally sad money.
Eubank has no bets
People think that rematch is unnecessary because there is no danger. Eubank Jr Ben has fought for nostalgic purposes, with the theme of their famous father. It would be foolish to have a sequel without two boxers.
The rematch doesn’t make sense because it’s a clear decision of scores 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. It’s a better idea for Eubank Jr. and Benn to show ambition and try the world champion. Neither fighter did anything in his career and was working on the shore with the achievements of his famous father.
Turkey should insist that Benn challenged WBO middleweight champion Brian Norman Jr. to understand his making. We already know that he lacks the skill and scale to beat Eubank JR or any excellent middleweight.
Fans are not sure why Turki supports Benn and Eubank Jr. by funding their rematch. What Turki should have done is list a few fighters, both of which need to be defeated before he can pay them millions of rematches to them.
Eubank has no title ambitions
Eubank Jr., 35, is obviously not enough to beat the middleweight, knows better than world champions Janibek Alimkhanuly, Erislandy Lara or Carlos Adames who are trying to compete for the title. So the best he can do is fight Conor Benn, which is a joke.
