BYU quarterback Jake Retzlaff intends to transfer because he believes he has violated the code of honors due to sexual assault charges against him and has suspended seven games from the school.
Retzlaff is only one year remaining as a graduate student and may be suspended. ESPN Report He plans to go elsewhere in the 2025 college football season.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported Retzlaff’s long suspension of expectations for BYU, a case run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

According to the Tribune, engaging in consent premarital sex violates BYU’s code of honors, a strict set of rules directing students to “live a chaste and kind life.”
Although Retzlaff is not a Mormon, the code of honor applies to all students enrolled in BYU.
A woman known as Jane Doe Ag accused Retzlaff of sexual assault in a lawsuit filed in May. Retzlaff was prosecuted for alleged assault, assault and intentional emotional distress, which occurred in November 2023 at his apartment.

Retzlaff, 22, has not been charged with criminal charges.
According to the lawsuit, the Salt Lake City woman claimed she met Retzlaff via social media and then agreed to visit him in his apartment to play video games, Every ESPN.
The lawsuit states that the two began to kiss, but Retzlaff ignored her request to stop and continued to “escalate the situation.”

The initial complaint said Retzlaff placed his hand on the woman’s neck after trying to leave the apartment in ESPN and raped her. However, new documents on Friday have denied the allegations, claiming the two are engaged in consensus.
Retzlaff’s lawyer wrote through ESPN: “Mr. Retzlaff specifically denied every charge of his rape or strangulation (women), which are ridiculous and strange allegations, all of which are false and untrue.”
Retzlaff’s lawyers also accused the woman of blackmail, claiming that the quarterback had never received a voice for more than a year. However, since he is the NFL draft prospect, the lawsuit is about to come out. USA Today The report said Friday’s documents.

Retzlaff moved to BYU in 2023 and he was 11-2 in 2024.
It is unknown where Retzlaff will be transferred, or which teams may be interested in him this year.
