Apple reportedly considers letting Anthropic and OpenAI power Siri

Apple is considering using AI models from OpenAI and Antropic to operate their updated version of Siri, instead of using technology that the company has built at home, according to A Bloomberg report Monday.

The iPhone maker continues to build a project inside called “LLM Siri”, which uses in-house AI models, according to Bloomberg. However, Apple is reportedly asked for Openai and anthropic to train versions of their AI models, which can work on Apple’s cloud infrastructure for testing.

Apple was forced to delay its AI-enabled Siri, originally scheduled for 2025, up to 2026 or later due to a series of Technical challenges The company was reportedly running. This failure may have long come; Apple has fallen behind Google, Openai, and Antropic in the AI race for the past several years.

While Siri can already call Chatgpt for difficult questions, Apple now seems to explore much deeper integration with technology by third AI providers.
