David Morrell said he lost to David Benavidez “wakes me up” and he fought Imam Khataev’s redemption battle in the lightweight lightweight match in the Queens New York on July 12.
Morel (11-1, 9 KOS) has made his mistake against Benavides and is ready to show off his new version in their 10 rounds of trumpet battles against the unbeaten Olympics Olympia Khatav (10-0, 9 kos) DAZN PPV.
Morel’s “Wake Me” Statement
“The battle to Benavidez wakes me up. I’m hurting something,” Morel said.
It would be impressive if Morrell could play Khataev’s knockout match, as in the eyes of some, he is seen as the next Beterbiev. With strength and amateur genealogy, he is a tough opponent for Morrell.
Khataev Visa issue affects the struggle?

It would be great if one of the super middleweights could fight on that date. Once you surpass the top three or four fighters, there is a lack of lightweight heavyweight divisions.
Rematch with Benavidez or Bivol/Beterbiev?
When asked if he wanted to play a rematch with David Benavidez or the winner of Dmitry Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev Trilogy, Morel said: “I feel like I feel like I’m one of the youngest.”
Benavidez will not rush to fight Morrell again after being punished by this battle. He looked as if he had reached the worst situation at the end. If Morrell makes some adjustments by increasing punch output, he might stop Benavidez because he has better punching power.

Morrell is unlikely to have a chance to fight the winner of Bivol’s battle with Beterbiev. David Benavidez is the next one. But if Morrell looks good in defeating Imam Khataev and getting another solid victory, he will have the ability to challenge the world champion.
Bivol and Beterbiev are getting older. I hope neither stays for longer. If Morel can’t play a game before two people retire before retirement, he can still compete for the championship once he vacated. That could mean a rematch against Benavidez.
