Joe Cordina 18-1, 9 kos was a unanimous decision for a 10-round unchange unchanged decision on the second-tier fighter Jaret Gonzalez Quiroz (17-2, 13 KOS) during a lightweight match at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England on Saturday night. The former IBF super lightweight champion Cordina suffered a right hand injury from the little-known 24-year-old Quiroz in the sixth round.

The scores are 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92. Boxing News 24 won Cordina 7-3.
Bunny fist troubles
Cordina, 34, escaped a lot Rabbit fist, forearm, shoelaces, Hit in the back tonight. The referee has a casual way of fighting, choosing not to supervise Cordina’s constant fouls. In the fifth and sixth rounds, this is Joe’s foul clinic. Confusingly, the referee did not stop deducting points.
Rabbit fists should have resulted in warnings and at least fines as they are unchanged. His first step was to hit the elbow with a rabbit punch and then nail Quiroz with Quiroz. Very ugly.
Cordina doesn’t have to fight like this. In the 2024 battle with Anthony Cacace, the year of inactivity and his knockout loss seemed to give him a desperate extra advantage tonight. Due to his huge scale and experience advantages, he already has two. Quiroz is not a top contender.
Mason and Knox Champions
“We want to try to enable him to fight the champions fighting Abdullah Mason against Sam Noakes so he can try to be a two-part world champion. Now, we hope to have a bigger fight this year,” Eddie Hearn said after the war. ” Cordina’s victory More than Quiroz. “You have to get in there for this kind of battle. He won every round. He looks like he likes it sometimes. He doesn’t want to be relaxed.”
I’m Wales. Bring any Mexicans with me and I will stop them from track. ” Cordina said.
Based on this show, Cordina won’t have the chance to compete with any of the department’s top five lightweights. The idea of Hearn’s November battle to compete with Abdullah Mason and Sam Noakes for the winner of the WBO 135-pound title is a bad title. Cordina would not belong to Mason, the possible winner of this battle.
Even if he was going to use the rabbit fist and other rough house tactics he used to Quiroz tonight, he wouldn’t last long.
Cordina needs a more intense battle
Ideally, Cordina should win the title rather than gifting it to him after beating the hand-picked Quiroz. Let Cordina defeat one of the fighters:
- Herrera Core
- Denys Berinchyk
- Edwin de Los Santos
Cordina’s appearance is unlikely to beat these guys tonight, but at least he wins, and he should be competing for the world title against the Mason-Noakes title. Cordina shouldn’t just win the world title, as he briefly owns the IBF 130 pounds title. The sport shouldn’t work that way. Cordina didn’t stick to the world championship in the super lightweight competition, and the guy he beat to win the strap, Kenichi Ogawa wasn’t special.
