director James Gunn Revealed that the upcoming “Superman” film will be “about politics”, he said the iconic superhero was “immigrants from elsewhere.”
“Superman is the American story,” Gunn told Sunday Times In a recent interview. “A immigrant from other places and takes up the country, but for me it’s mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value, and that’s something we’ve lost.”
The character was first launched in 1938 and originated from the imaginations of writer Jerry Siegel and Cleveland, Ohio artist Joe Shuster. In the comics, Superman is the only survivor of Earth Krypton, whose parents send his world to Earth in the face of destruction.

The film will be released on July 11, and will restart the 2013 film Iron Man, with the aim of launching a new cinematic universe for the DC series. Actor David Corenswet plays the new Superman and Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane.
When asked if he considered how the film’s political theme resonated across the country—from New York aka Metropolis’ “Blue State” to Kansas’ Superman’s rural roots—Gunn acknowledged the contrast.
“Yes, it works differently,” he said. “It’s about human kindness. Obviously, there are jerks out there, they’re just unfriendly and just offends because it’s kind. But they messed up.”

Although Gunn emphasizes the film’s political and moral background, he also points to its entertainment and fantasy sense – a flying dog is mentioned in the cape, which is part of the film’s lighter elements.
“Yes, it’s about politics, “he said.” But on another level, it’s about morality. Anyway, you would never kill what Superman believes, or stay balanced like Louis believed? It’s really about their relationship and how different moral perspectives can pull two people apart. ”
