this Chicago White Sox They mourned Monday night since former pitcher Bobby Jenks, who died at the age of 44 after battling cancer.
The team wore a No. 45 patch on their jerseys to honor Jenks, showing a tribute video to those in the stands on Monday night, Rate field.
Patch 45 will be worn for the rest of the 2025 season.

It was a gloomy moment, but hopefully a moment to honor Jenks after his death on the weekend.
Jenks announced in February that he is dealing with a stage 4 adenocarcinoma of gastric cancer. After moving to Portugal to get closer to his wife’s family, he made the announcement on his hospital bed.

“Today, we lost the iconic White Sox members,” White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf said in a statement.
“None of us will forget in the ninth inning of the 4th game in Houston, Bobby did everything during the 2005 World Series championship and the entire Sooke University organization. He and his family knew cancer would be his toughest fight and he would be his toughest fight for his husband, father, friends and teammates.

Although Jenks did not disclose his situation except for diagnosis, he did say he hoped to be part of White Sox’s 20th anniversary celebrating its 2005 World Series victory. That will be this Friday from Chicago Cleveland Guardian.
Jenks played seven seasons in the Major League Baseball (MLB), with six of them playing with the White Sox. When he debuted with them in 2005, he had a huge success, earning 2.75 ERA in 32 games while batting 11.4 bats per nine innings.
Jenks will eventually get closer and closer in the World Series that season due to his consistency on the mound, pitching in all four games as the White Sox swept the Houston Astros to win everything.
Jenks won back-to-back All-Star bids in 2006 and 2007 while completing his career with a 3.53 ERA. Another team he played for was the Boston Red Sox, who then retired after the 2011 season.

Jenks also struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction, which effectively ended his career before sobering in 2012.
Jenks’s wife and six children survived, four of whom came from a previous marriage.
