Andy Cruz complained today about the champions “avoiding the fight for excuses”. In a mysterious post on Instagram, the undefeated IBF lightweight mandatory challenger Cruz (6-0, 3 KOS) seems to suggest that negotiations with IBF champion Raymond Muratalla are not going well.
Muratalla avoids Cruz IBF fight?
Cruz and Muratara reportedly fought on a card in Riyadh on November 22 in negotiations. The incident was announced today, but the battle of Muratalla-Cruz was not mentioned in Turki Alalshikh’s post, revealing the news.
If Muratalla (23-0, 17 KO) chooses to voluntarily defend his IBF title to milk once or twice, then he is ordered to prevent Cruz from defending Cruz, it will not be shocked. His chances of defeating talented 2020 Olympic gold medalist Cruz are slim.
Andy may have to forget Muratalla in a different direction for the time being. Cruz ranks number one in the WBC owned by Shakur Stevenson. He should have heated up the fight on him.
Their co-sponsor Eddie Hearn may not agree with the idea because he signed Stevenson to attract Geronta Davis’s fight. It’s a fight that will bring millions of dollars. The last thing Hearn wanted was Andy Cruz defeating Shakur, exposing him, and destroying his chance to get Tank Davis to fight.
“When I became a world champion, I defend my title because that’s the purpose of the championship – whoever it is, defend them,” said Andy Cruz on Instagram.
“These so-called champions are looking for excuses to avoid facing anyone and would rather seek alternatives. Boxing is for the fighter rather than the name. The contract given to me, I will sign because I come to this country to fight anyone.”
Andy Cruz: The most avoidable lightweight?
Many people regard Cuba Cruz as a lightweight fighter, and fighters that have avoided the plague.
The so-called top names don’t want any part of the battle with Cruz. Muratalla will fight against skilled warriors like Andy. He was so good for his own sake. Even Shakur Stevenson, who claims to be 135, has no interest in fighting Andy Cruz. This is understandable.
