Discord’s virtual reward, ‘Orbs,’ launches out of beta

Users earn orbes after completing searches that involve interacting with advertisements for products or games to get virtual items. Users can redeem orbs for digital items in Discord’s shop, such as three-day nitro-credit, orb-themed profile badge, profile effects, avatar ornaments and more.

According to Discord, orbes were popular among testers, with millions earned and spent during the seven-week beta. Other corporate data show that there was a 16-fold growth of first-time purchases in the shop, and 79% of participants never bought anything before.

Disagreement is said to be In view of an IPO and seeks to show potential partners that it can keep a scalable advertising model. Discord is marketing orbes to advertisers as a simpler way to launch search campaigns without needing to create their own rewards.

The orbes experiment is also likely to attract users who do not have a subscription to test nitro, as they can use orbs to buy credits. However, it is unclear whether there was a growth of subscriptions. The company did not respond to a comment request, but it mentioned that 70% of orbes -participants were not members.
