Building renewal burns after Russian air strike

At least three people died after another extensive air bombing in Russia.

Regional Governor Sergiy Lysak said the two were killed in the eastern dnipropetrovsk area, while a woman died from injuries after being rescued from a burning apartment in Odesa, according to Emergency Services.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said 10 regions of Ukraine, including many cities, were attacked overnight. The Ukrainian army said more than 340 explosive and virtual drones were used as well as 35 cruise and ballistic missiles.

While 90% of them were shot down, suppressed or lost electronically, more than 30 passes.

One of the strikes struck a residential neighborhood in the southern city of Odesa, causing a fire on its upper floor.

Rescuers said five people were rescued from the burning apartment – including the woman who later died. At least six people were injured.

The eastern city of Pavlohrad is subject to what Serhiy Lysak calls “Hell’s Night and Morning.”

He said the “post-explosion explosion” caused by the drone and missile strikes, adding that it was by far the largest scale attack on the city.

Targets reportedly include industrial sites, fire departments, clinics, schools and cultural institutions.

Zelensky wrote that “important infrastructure” was damaged there. The missile plant is located in Pavlohrad and has been attacked by Russia in the past.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it attacked military industrial enterprises that produced components for missiles and drones overnight, but did not specify where to go.

The northeastern city of Sumy was also attacked. Zelensky said critical infrastructure has been damaged, reducing the power of thousands of families.

There are also strikes in Shostka, another town in the area – including bombs with guided bombs, less than 50 kilometers (30 miles) from the Russian border. Officials said the “targeted hits” there caused the fire. They didn’t say what happened.

Unverified video footage of the alleged incident was released online, showing violent fire and rolling gray smoke.

Zelensky once again stressed the importance of strengthening air defense in terms of allies’ supply, and also produced them in Ukraine, including more interceptor drones.

Russia said it shot down more than 70 Ukrainian drones overnight on Saturday, most of them in the Rostov, Moscow and Bryansk regions.

Yuri Slyusar, acting governor of Rostov, said the attack was huge and affected areas bordering Ukrainian-occupied areas. He said the houses were damaged by what he called the decline of debris and several settlements suffered temporary cuts.

Slisar said a railway worker was injured and railway traffic was interrupted. Several supply routes in Ukraine run through the region.

Meanwhile, on the front line, Russian troops continued to attack the town of Pokrovsk in one of its main targets, the eastern Donetsk region.

Late Friday, Ukraine’s commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskyi admitted it was under increasing pressure but insisted that its defense was “firm”. He said Russia has been trying to attack with a few soldiers for sabotage and reconnaissance purposes, claiming that one of the groups was destroyed. Russia has been trying to surround Pokrovsk for months.
