Fateh made many comparisons with Zohran Mamdani of New York City. Like Mamdani, Fateh is a Muslim democratic socialist, 35 years old and a member of Generation Y.
Fateh is the son of Somali immigrants and becomes the first Somali American to be elected Minnesota Senate In 2020. He promised that if elected mayor, he would raise the city’s minimum wage, increase affordable housing supply, and combat what he calls “police violence.”
