Idaho prosecutor Bill Thompson said investigators could not rule out the possibility that Bryan Kohberger used a second weapon during the murder of four Idaho students and believed the killer was spared from roommate Dylan Mortenson, who survived Idaho politician.
Thompson explained that some of the injuries observed to 21-year-old victim Kaylee Goncalves appeared to be due to something other than the knife used in the attack, even though he stopped the weapon a second time.
“Although it might be a knife, it seems to be caused by something other than a knife,” Thompson told the politician. “I don’t think we can rule out the possibility of other weapons involved.”
Court documents reveal the extent of the November 2022 attacks on Goncavis, Madison Morgan, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin. Authorities recently revealed in a recently released Moscow Police Department document that Gonkavis endured “more than 20 stab wounds” along with Blunt-Force trauma.

“It’s hard for me to imagine that the killer didn’t see Dylan, judging by what Dylan described,” Thompson said. “At that time, he was probably in the house longer than he planned, and he killed more people than he planned. Mortensen shared with authorities that she noticed an intruder during the night of attack on 1122 King Road in Moscow, who told her he was “Help here. ”
James Fry, director of the Moscow Police, told ABC News There are many theories about the reasons why Mortensen survives, including the murder case where Kohberger may have murdered four times as much.
“I don’t know, he’s the only one who has this answer,” Fry told the media.

Thompson also highlighted the key role DNA plays in solving the case.
“From our perspective as prosecutors, DNA is crucial to the strength of the case,” he said.
Thompson told politicians that ensuring a conviction could be “insurmountable” without the DNA that links Koberg to the scabbard.
