Senate confirms President Jeanine Pirro on Saturday Donald Trump’s As lawmakers failed to reach a deal for dozens of presidential nominees, they were elected as the top prosecutor in Washington, D.C.
With Senate Republicans working to pass a Senate Democratic lockdown on Trump’s nominee, of the 150 outstanding nominees on the Senate calendar were once one of New York’s judges and prosecutors and former Fox News hosts, and voted over the weekend. Pirro confirmed by 50-45 that she will serve as a U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, a position she has held temporarily since May.
Pirro previously served as a district attorney in Westchester County, New York for more than a decade. Prior to that, she served as a judge in Westchester County in the early 1990s.
“Jeanine is very reasonable in this position and is considered one of the most important local lawyers in New York State history,” Trump said in his nomination for Pirro. “She teaches her own class.”

But she is not Trump’s first choice. His top pick, Ed Martin, failed to get enough support among Republicans earlier this year. senator Thom TillisRN.C. effectively won Martin’s nomination for his attention to his view of the riot on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing last month, Democrats went on strike to protest her and U.S. District Court Judge Emil Bove, who was confirmed earlier this week by a vote of 50 to 49. Later, she advanced to the committee by a party vote.
