Coach Joel Diaz said he did not believe Terence Crawford would be able to take Canelo Alvarez’s fist in the “War of the Century” on September 13. He pointed out that the naturally larger fighter Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOS) will be able to get punches from Crawford (41-0, 31 KOS), but he will not be able to repay him.
Crawford, 37, will be promoted to challenge Canelo’s two weight classes, and his undisputed title at 168 will be too many. Diaz noted that Crawford could not do anything “doing nothing” when challenging Israel Madrimov in the WBA Junior Middleweight Championship on August 3, 2024.
No rescue of Crawford
Now, Terence is rising two weight shifts to fight Canelo in the super middleweight, and the result will be even worse. Crawford can’t expect the judge to save him like he was against Madrimov, because he wasn’t the A side this time.
“A lot of people say Crawford can beat Canelo. I respect that. Oppose Action. “A adult’s size difference changed everything with one punch, and I could see the same thing.”
The best thing Crawford can hope for through his body, strength and experience disadvantage is following Mayweather and Erislandy Lara Blueprint to Outbox Canelo. Even then, he still needs to count on the judge’s light blow to him with a harder, cleaner shot with Canelo.
They gave Mayweather the credibility, but that was a few years ago in 2013. Crawford was older, slower, and had no popularity that Floyd had when he fought against Alvarez. He won’t weaken Canelo’s weight as Mayweather did in the 152-pound battle, and he’s facing a stronger Mexican star. Floyd did not fight the 2025 edition. If he does, he will be forced to run around the ring and use a lot of grips.
“You see Canelo Alvarez fighting Amir Khan. Take a look. Terence Crawford moved from 147 to 154 battles. What did he do to Madrimov? Nothing?” “Israil Madrimov is a 154-pound man. Now it’s going to 168, and that’s the other two departments.”
Canelo is more powerful and aggressive than Madrimov. He won’t waste time using all the endless holidays Madrimov uses. He accumulated a huge lead in the first half by using too much pretense and not using his natural scale, strength and youth advantage to win the chances of fighting. If Madridmov fought more actively, he could do it easily.
“Canelo Alvarez will get any punches from Crawford, but I don’t think Crawford will punch from Canelo. Remember, Canelo was hit by GGG, who hit the heaviest batsman in the division (middleweight) and Canelo shot these shots like a champion. I don’t think Crawford beats Canelo in any way.”
If Canelo is linked to the kind of shots he hit with William Scull and Edgar Berlanga in the past two battles, Crawford will have a hard time taking them away. It could disappear no matter what he fought on him. We know Crawford is known for his competitors, but if he gets hit, he will get rid of self-protection. Once he does this, any chance of his victory will be lost.
