California Gov. Gavin Newsom says he is ready to fight the “fire” as state Republican lawmakers try to re-dividend Texasobject to this move, although similar measures are expected to be taken if needed.
Newsom said in a press conference on Monday that he supported independent redistricting and national frameworks, and a proposal made by the legislature strengthened what he supported.
“Our proposal to move forward with the Legislature can only be triggered when moving forward to dismantle and establish a good agreement,” the governor said. “Will California move forward in a cordial way? Yes? Yes, open fire.”
When asked about the meeting between the California Democrats on Sunday night, they drafted or almost completed the draft of the maps that were reassigned and whether he had seen them, Newsom says He didn’t.

But he said a series of conversations were underway last night, and last night continued on Monday morning until the Democrats landed.
“This process has to be consented and supported by two-thirds of the legislature,” he said. “We believe that these maps should be transparent. They should be provided to the public in a transparent manner, so these maps are being processed and will be exposed.”
But, at the end of the day, Newsom said the California people will have the final say.
“Only as Texas moves forward, we will provide them with an opportunity to judge themselves again,” Newsom said. “I would emphasize that we think it should be a national model, independent state re-division, it will return to its original form, but it is done to deal with the reality of existence we are facing now. Things have changed, facts have changed, so we have to change.”

“They have triggered this reaction, we will not turn over, we will fight the fire, but we are going to do more than just slam the weight of the fourth largest economy (the most populous state of our union), which is the sum of the population of the 21 states,” he continued. “We will also surpass our weight in the impact of what we do, which I think should be absorbed by the people in the Texas delegation. Whatever they do, in California, everything they do will be spayed and they will pay that price.”
California Republican chairman Corrin Rankin told Fox News Digital that Newsom’s actions could threaten the constitutional rights of Californians, while also setting dangerous precedents.
“Although Governor News magazine re-divides this re-divided into defensive action, it undermines the national respect of the voter-approved Citizen Re-divided Committee in California and sets a dangerous precedent that whenever a voter’s choice can be overturned politically, this will be overturned politically,” Rankin said. “Our main focus is to protect the constitutional rights of Californians to prevent partisan manipulation disguised as a defense; true democracy means empowering voters, not politicians, to decide on representation.”
Dozens Texas Democrats Escaped their state and headed to Chicago and New York on Sunday night to block the vote to re-divided Monday.

The statement also describes a proposed region for Republicans that has the potential to secure five new Republican U.S. House seats in next year’s midterm elections, a “racist midterm rezoning plan.”
Abbott criticized the dramatic departure of the Democrats and said that “real Texans will not escape the battle.”

Still, Rep. Robin Kelly welcomed her colleagues and said they could stay the time they wanted because they believed in what they were doing.
“What you’re doing and what…what they want to do in Texas will affect you, but it will affect the whole country,” she said. “When you want to remove five Democrats…it hurts us in the house.”
She explained that if there weren’t enough Democrats, things like big beautiful bills, or calling them “the big ugly bills,” and other Republican initiatives passed.
“They try to undermine our democracy and undermine the fairness of our country,” Kelly said. “Unfortunately, they start in Texas. But we want you to know that we are standing by your side.”

Specifically, he accused Abbott of not having a special meeting to help rebuild the family, but rather not doing President Donald Trump’s “bidding” to “eliminate the federal delegation.”
Krishnamoorthi then directed Abbott his comment, saying, “Don’t be confused with Texas” because the people with him represent Texas.
“You can silence them. You can smear them. You can nail them with debt and fins. But you can’t intimidate them.” “You can pick on that map.
Other lawmakers fought side by side in Illinois, choosing to accuse Trump of the policy of being racing-driven.
Texas Rep. Ana-Maria Rodriguez Ramos said Trump’s policies have harmed working families.
“It’s nothing more than racism,” she said. “He came after all of us didn’t look like everyone in him and his Republican colleagues.”

Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, followed Rodriguez Ramos to raise more racist charges, saying Republicans Doing what Trump insists on doing.
“I want you to know that when this message was sent to Texas through the Justice Department through the Justice Department, we didn’t introduce the race card,” he said. “They mentioned this race card because they talked about race picky people. They came up with the race car, and when they brought it up, they did, knowing it was a buzz. It was a trigger.”
“They know it’s a buzzword that people will respond in Texas, but we’ll respond to that buzzword by telling them that your racism is not going to change Texas’ democracy.” “In the United States of America, racism will get our democratic stance.”
Rep. Julie Johnson of D-Texas said she was pleased that states like California and New York supported Texas Democrats because once it happened in Texas, it would spread to other states.
She called the issue a “national war” and a “total war”, where everything was on the table.
“We come from a very proud state, and I never thought of being an elected member of the Texas House, now an elected member from Texas to the U.S. House, and I would see the proud state governor of Texas succumb to New York felons,” Johnson added. “I never thought I would see this day, but we are here.”
represent. Jasmine CrockettD-Texas also stood with Democrats in Illinois and accused Abbott of talking about “a lot of noise.” She also accused Republicans of being “weak”.
“The difference is that they want Democrats to be our good guys,” Crockett said. “They hope we can punch and say thank you. Well, I’m here to tell you that we’re not only going back, but we’re about to beat you.”
Still, Abbott told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday that Texas is doing what law allows it to do.
He also accused state Democrats of doing something “non-Texas” by rejecting Texan identity rather than dealing with flooding issues that are still echoing throughout the state.
Abbott said four of the five seats that could change due to the re-division are primarily Hispanic.
“These are seats that Democrats have to master with reality,” he said, explaining that Democrats lost votes among Hispanic and Black voters in Texas.
