Former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke said Democrats must be willing to “fight against fire” when seeking to reapprove Republicans in the Congressional District.
“This re-division, this is the shorthand for members of Congress to choose their own voters,” O’Rourke said on the Joy Reid show. podcast on Monday.
“Unless we stop, that’s going to make things worse,” O’Rourke continued. “So my hope is – I’ve heard that from everyone everywhere – Democrats fight back against everything they have. Fight against fire. So if that means Texas State House Democrats need to leave the country to deny that their Republican colleagues are quorum, that’s it.”

“If Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to follow his threat to California’s re-division to give Democrats more advantage there, I know no one likes that, but we have to win power until we can change it,” Newsom said. “And if we don’t do everything we can, we won’t get that power.”
He added: “The third thing is that if they do succeed in re-painting these areas, the Democrats have to be ready to play and win their competition, not just the newly created areas, and if that’s what they end up doing, it’s Republican areas, but the Republicans who were previously considered safe, it’s going to have to lose these new confusing areas.”
