After releasing the music video of the hamburger set for the track “Wanderlust”, the brand officially released Welt’s JS EP involving vinyl and streaming services. “Simone Bellotti chose music for his first Jil Sander project, exploring a tool to induce and express emotions,” Jil Sander said in an earlier statement. Bochum’s 11-track EP distilled out the “double essence” of Jil Sander’s “rigor and abandonment,” which includes a mixture of ethereal environments, IDM (independent dance music) and experimental houses.
Simone Bellotti’s collaboration with musicians was deeply inspired by the brand’s burger roots. Jil Sander’s EP was founded in 1968 and evoked the emergence of electronic music pioneered by German artists such as Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk.
The musical movement coincides with the development of Jil Sander’s iconic design aesthetics, combining late-20th-century electric dressing codes with modern minimalism. Bochum Welt’s debut was released through Aphex Twin’s Rephlex Label, which opened in Milan the same year, and eventually became the company’s creative and surgical headquarters.
Jil Sander’s Bochum Welt JS EP is now available on the brand’s store and web stores as well as vinyl on all streaming platforms.
