Summary
- Heinz and Smoothie King create limited edition tomato tomato sauce smoothie
- Smoothie mixes ketchup with açai, strawberries and raspberries to provide a savory and sweet flavor
- Unique drinks available for limited time in select locations in five U.S. cities
The long-running Internet debate – “If tomatoes are fruit, is tomato sauce a smoothie?” – finally got two major brands. The global leader in tomato sauce, Heinzin partnership with Smoothie King, the world’s largest smoothie brand, created the Heinz Tomato Tomato Milkshake Smoothie, a limited edition drink that is both provocative and surprisingly delicious.
This is the first ketchup-based smoothie ever to blend Heinz with just tomato tomato sauce mixed with sweet and sour fruit ingredients including açai sorbet, apple juice, juicy strawberries and egg comparries. The result is a unique ‘savory’ fusion with a unique, rich finish that challenges traditional flavours. The collaboration begins at the highest harvest season for tomatoes, when Heinz tomatoes are the most ripe.
This decline in innovation is more than just marketing stunts. This proves the commitment of both brands to quality ingredients. The tomato sauce used by Heinz Simply ketchup does not contain artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, while smoothies adhere to the Smoothie King’s strict “clean mix” promise, which bans 75 ingredients in its products.
Heinz Tomato Ketchup Smoothie is available for a limited time for $5.70 in five markets at select Kings locations: Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Miami, as well as parts of the Greater New York area and northern New Jersey. Customers are encouraged to share their reactions on social media using the #KetchupSmoothie hashtag to ensure this unique collaboration becomes a viral topic.
