Openai revealed his last generative AI model, GPT-5, Thursday. CEO Sam Altman says that Chatgpt is now similar to “superpower” and the equivalent of a “legitimate PhD-level expert on anything, any area you need, at request, can help you with whatever your goals are.” But after a day of playing around with it, many people are disappointed. Not just because GPT-5 still smokes Basic questionsBut because it seems to break many workflows, according to complaints posted to Reddit.
How many people hate what happened with GPT-5? Altman now says they bring back the last model for paid users. “We’ll let plus users choose to continue using 4o. We’ll look at usage while we think about how long to offer inheritance models,” Altman tweeted.
Altman also wrote that the company would double GPT 5’s limits for Chatgpt Plus users and blamed the fact that the new model seemed “thinner” about Autoswitcher’s breaking. The Director General also said they would change the UI to facilitate the exchange between various models. “Rolling to everyone lasts a little longer. It’s a massive change on a large scale. For example, our API traffic has been doubled for the past 24 hours …” Altman wrote.
Chatgpt users are seriously upset and it is unclear whether Altman’s promises will make up for it. Because it’s not just 4o for whom people clicte.

The user wrote that 4o was not just a tool for them: “It helped me through anxiety, depression and some of the darkest periods of my life. It had this warmth and understanding that felt … human.”
Another user at R/Chatgpt complained That it felt that they are now using a free version with GPT-5 despite being paid a subscriber: “I am so completely disappointed, as well as the millions of people here. [sic] of shit in the industry. ”
Yet another Reddit user showed why they used different models and how to just turn them off was devastating, explaining that they have now canceled their paid subscription After two years:

I don’t think I have to talk to myself when I say that each model was useful for a specific use case, (all the logic behind multiple models with various capabilities). Basically dividing your workflow into multiple agents with specific tasks.
Personally, 4o was used for creativity and emerging ideas, O3 was used for pure logic, O3-PRO for deep research, 4.5 for writing, etc. I’m sure many of you experienced the same type.
The user went on to guess that there is a non -making goal behind the switch, floating that it is part of a conspiracy theory to suppress creativity: “Openai immediately train users to believe that this A repressive motor It is the “most intelligent model on Earth”, at the same time removing the models that have shown true appearance and creativity. “The user even used the term” social control “, bending heavily into the idea that shady forces were preparing for” social collapse. “
Other commentators on boards outside R/Chatgpt saw it less as a sign of social collapse or control. They simply assumed that the moves proved that the emperor did not wear clothes. Even if you ignore the problems with workflows (and you really don’t have to), GPT-5 is still very perfect. People have spent the day on social media platforms like Bluesky producing Chatgpt’s most nasty examples going cheerful.

Altman acknowledged X that his rolling did not go well. “We will continue to work for stable issues and continue to listen to feedback,” the general manager of Openai tweeted. “As we mentioned, we waited for some disgrace as we make so many things at once. But it was a little worse than we had hoped!”
It could be difficult for Chatgpt to recover, especially since so many people in Reddit claim that they cancel their subscriptions. And Openai has many competitors like Antropic’s Claude, Xai’s Grok, and Google’s Gemini. But we need to find out early enough whether to bring 4o enough for most Chatgpt users. If not, they probably jump a ship.
