U.S. President Donald Trump nominates State Department spokesman and former Fox News host Tammy Bruce as deputy representative of the United Nations.
In a post about the Truth Society, Trump said Bruce has been working at the U.S. State Department since taking office in January, where he has done “excellent work”.
Before joining the administration, Bruce was a conservative Fox News writer for more than 20 years and has written several books criticizing liberals, including “Fear itself: Revealing the left’s murderous thinking agenda.”
It is unclear when she will take over the position if the Senate confirms her nomination.
“I am pleased to announce that I am nominating the great patriot, television celebrity and bestselling author Tammy Bruce as our next deputy U.S. representative and as ambassador position,” Trump wrote on Saturday’s Society of Truth.
He continued: “Tammy has been the State Department spokesperson since the start of her second term, where she did a great job.”
As the spokesman, Bruce defended some of the controversial foreign policy decisions in the United States – from Trump’s immigration crackdown to sending private military contractors to distributing aid to Gaza.
Trump’s UN ambassador Mike Waltz has not yet been confirmed by the Senate.
Currently acting ambassador to the United Nations is Dorothy Shea, a professional diplomat who is the deputy ambassador for 2024.
