
Ricki Lake is grateful for the outpouring of support she’s received since losing her house. Los Angeles fire Earlier this month, that included receiving a very special gift.
Lake explained on her Instagram page on Sunday that one thing she lost in the fire that was “very painful” to her was a photo album of her son Owen’s birth in 2001 at the home.
The former talk show host did document her birth in her documentary “The Birth Affair,” but she also has “a beautiful photo album” of the time.
Lake said one of her midwives, Jennifer Lickson, reached out to her over the weekend after fire destroyed her home and provided her with copies of photos from her son’s birth.

“It’s like the best thing anyone’s ever done for me. I can’t believe I’m getting this back and being able to look back on it,” admits She has this movie, But the photo album is also important to her.
“It’s the little things that matter,” she added.
In the caption, she thanked her doula again and described the photos as “one of the many priceless things I lost in the fire. I am deeply touched by this act of kindness.”
On Saturday, Lake also expressed her gratitude for the support she has received since losing her home.

“This experience brought me to my knees. I can’t imagine anyone who has gone through anything worse,” she said. Thanks to various companies and friends who helped.
“It’s so weird to be in a place where you need help. I’m a very independent person and I’ve been looking after myself since I was 18,” Lake added.
“It’s the little things that matter.”
“I don’t come from money, I don’t come from any handouts or nepotism,” she continued. “I just built this life for myself, my husband and my kids. It’s so weird that it disappeared in one incident.”
she pointed out she lost a lot She has been collecting throughout her life, including original “Hairspray” scripts signed by her co-stars, and photos of her parents and grandparents.

The 56-year-old star added that she had taken multiple fire prevention measures but felt the city was ultimately unprepared.
“I can’t even fathom what’s going on and how inadequate we are… It’s a very strange time in life. I’m really grateful to everyone who has reached out to me.”
“Please remember us, and all of us who are going through this nightmare of having to rebuild our lives,” she concluded. “I’m going to be fine. I’m one of the lucky ones because I have insurance. It doesn’t make up for what’s been lost. , but we will create a new magical place.”
Last week, Lake shared that she and her husband Ross Burningham, Working hard to rebuild our homes, Wanted to create “something equally magical.”

“My Malibu home is a sanctuary and a gathering place for many friends and loved ones. There are too many parties to count. There are endless spaces in the house to hang out, dance and play,” she wrote on Instagram on Monday. “It’s so exhausting and paralyzing now to try and figure out how to do it all again…but I will.”
