The Road Home made the audience fall in love with Alice and Nick’s unattainable romance, but is it the fictional couple? find their way back to each other despite the age gap caused by time travel?
During an exclusive interview with We are every week, Sadie Laflamme-Snow Confused about how Alice is connected to Nick (Samuel Brown) in 1994 helped him develop his character, saying, “Oh my heart. I love the story line of Alice and Nick. It was an anchor point for me in playing Alice. It was one of the first times we really saw him open up.”
Laflamme-Snow, 25, remembers how it took a while for Alice to show himself to others. “He really struggled in the beginning. So the first time we see her sing on Nick’s request at the beach in front of all these strangers, you really see her for the first time as a young girl and she’s just vulnerable,” he shared. “Very nice.”
Despite feeling the chemistry between Alice and the teenager Nick, Laflamme-Snow still caught through overwhelming fan support.
“I didn’t know people could get so attached. But it seems that, as time goes by, people are more attached to their relationship and they become more star-crossed lovers,” he said. “We see them at the house party (in season 1) and they’re at the masquerade seeing each other through the glass. It’s like the more they’re apart, the more people want them together.”
The Road Homewhich premiered in 2023, introduced three generations of Landry women family who stumble upon a pond on their land that allows them to travel through time. Alice is the first to make the discovery, which leads her to go back in time when her mother, Kat (Chyler Leigh), his age. That paves the way for Alice to find love with teenage Kat (Alex Hook) and the teenager Elliot (David Webster) childhood friend, Nick.

“For Nick to finally find out that Alice has time traveled in season 2, that’s obviously the most disruptive thing of all time for them to function normally in the present day,” Laflamme-Snow said. we about how season 2 introduced the adult Nick, played by Kerry James. “Of course, I love that story and will go back there anytime.”
Laflamme-Snow isn’t sure how The Road Home Nick can do a part in Alice’s future.
“Alice needs to be somewhere that focuses on her future and we see that with Noah (Alexander Eling),” he added about his character’s new love interest. “If he’s had a hard time with someone in his family — knowing everything through time travel — that’s the most unusual set of circumstances. (With Noah) he’s going to be a teenager. It’s a something he needs.”
The actress hasn’t ruled out a comeback from Nick – even if it is in mature form. “Let’s see how Alice and Nick’s current awkwardness can fix itself,” he joked. “Kerry James — who plays Nick — was a lot of fun to work with. It’s funny to see them pretending they don’t know each other but also being forced into a small town to run into each other all the time. It was handled very well.”

Places called Laflamme-Snow’s costars Chyler Leigh and Evan Williams emphasized how The Road Home able to respond to an age gap romance”without making it more strange” for the audience.
“One of the things that feels most holistic about the show is that thematically we’re always exploring this question of, ‘Is it better to try to change the past or to change our relationship with the past?’ That allows us to exist in the present in the future,” Williams, 39, explained to we. “We see the audience and all the characters — in their own ways — grapple with that question.”
He continued: “Obviously there are things that the heart desires but we also watch the characters navigate that. One of the most realistic things about the show is that we see that the characters don’t always have to be get what they think they want.
While speaking of success of the show in three seasonsthe three expressed gratitude for the warm support from fans.
“There’s a really interesting combination where our show airs on Friday nights so it’s like a viewing appointment. It’s not all streamed at the same time so people don’t really enjoy it. They have to wait a week,” Williams said. “So they do all their theory about everything. But past episodes and past episodes are available through streaming. So it’s a combination of appointment viewing and streaming. We get the best of both world.”
The Road Home airs on Hallmark Channel Fridays at 9 pm ET. New episodes will also be available to stream on Hallmark+ and Peacock the next day.
