Meta recently released a new video editing program For creators called edits. The new app is designed to rival with Capcut of Bytedance, a popular short-form video editing app used by many creators.
Meta first shared that it was working on edits back in January after Bytedance-owned Capcut was removed from US App stores when the Tiktok Ban took a moment. Although the app has since returned online and available downloadable, Tiktok’s future in the United States remains uncertain, so Meta is ready to capitalize on Capcut’s potential absence in the future with its new editing app.
We created this guide to walk you through the app and the different features it offers, and we give an overview of how it compares to a scarf.
How to start with the program

Edits are available available for download both iOS And Android. After you download the application and open it, you will be asked to log in with your Instagram account.
From there you will see five main tabs: ideas, inspiration, projects, record and insights. The idea tangle offers creators space to write down ideas for new videos and save coils to collection, and the inspirational tab presents a hub to discover trend audios and other popular coils.
The projects tab is where creators can store and review the videos they currently have in progress. This tab is also where creators can upload videos from the camera roll of their phone. The record tab allows creators to start filming video content correctly in edits. Lastly, the Insights tab gives creators an overview of how their content acts through surface metrics as views, achievement and follower.

How do you differ from hood edits?
While both edits and scarf are excellent options for editing short -form videos, there are some differences between the two services.
Capcut offers stronger editorial options, including AI functions, than edits do. Of course, this can be expected because edits are much newer than Capcut. Meta is likely to continue to build edits over the coming months and years, so we can expect to see more advanced functionality in the future. It is also worth mentioning that Capcut has a larger music library compared to edits.
Another difference is the fact that edits currently do not have a subscription offer (currently), but Capcut does. While Capcut offers a free version, some of its advanced tools are locked behind a paid subscription. Edits are free to use, but this is likely to change in the future, such as Instagram head Adam Mosseri stated That later versions of edits can include paid functions.
In addition, while Capcut is available on the web, edits are mobile only. However, this could change in the future.
