“I don’t know if it’s the same or worse – actually, I don’t know. But a lot, it’s awful,” said local florist Angelica, a local florist owner. “In my surroundings, yes, I live peacefully, thank God.”
From “better” to “same,” some locals praised Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, while others discussed how relations with the United States changed with different leaders over time.
Asked how border security updates under President Donald Trump affected Nogales, various residents pointed out the construction of local shelters created in anticipation of mass deportations.
