Oh, how innocent we were At the end of Januaryonly three episodes in the second season of Severance. We didn’t even know what The neck of salt was, or where was Mrs. Casey Revealed! We may have a slightly better idea of what hell happens, because the science fiction/online obsession of Apple TV+goes into its season two ends next week-but are still secrets that are inserted into the corridors of light.
With that in mind, it’s time to review The earlier post of io9 running through our most burning Severance Questions and see where they stand now – and you know we also have many new ones.
First, here is a summary of our early seasonal questions that we have since learned the answers.
Where is Mrs. Casey?
In the episode seven, “Chikhai Bardo”, we received a detailed back history of Gemma (later known as Mrs. Casey) and Mark’s relationship, from their first meeting at Blood Drive, to their happy early days of marriage, to their devastating struggles with infertility. We also learned that Gemma was literally under Mark’s feet all the time; With various separated personalities activated depending on which room she enters, she has experienced a series of very unpleasant experiences on the test of light, which is even more underground than the broken floor.

How did Gemma become Mrs. Casey – and why?
We still do not have accurate details about both of these, although we have some additional clues to continue. We know that Gemma and Mark visited a fertility clinic run by light, and that Gemma remained in contact with the place, or at least received a following post (the card “Chikhai Bard” came with some personality test) associated with it. We also saw the night when she left alone for an event that Mark didn’t want to attend and never came home, with a couple of police showing to deliver the sad (false) news about her fate.
While we don’t know exactly how she became Mrs Casey – was she kidnapped? Willingly participant until realizing what she actually agreed? – We have a little less cloudy idea of why. Based on episode seven, we know that she is being held against her will, and that Mark’s work as a “macrodate refinery” formed his experiences on the test floor. We also know based on this week’s episode, “The After Hours”, that when Mark finishes his most important work file, the cold port of this time, Gemma’s life will end.
We do not know, of course, some of the great image things, such as what lightly plans to do with the results of this barbaric experiment, and what future implications it could have.
What is a cold harbor?
See above. We don’t know what is actually waiting for Gemma in the room, but it will be much more terrible than being on a plane, a seemingly shattered, painful afternoon at the dentist, or passively-aggressive Christmas passed by writing a feminine thanks. After “Chikhai Bard”, it seemed like a splashing cold harbor would be where Gemma will re-experience her abuse always and more, but now that we know that it is designed to be a fatal-could it be a car crash that actually kills her?
What is Mrs. Cobel’s plan and what’s in the neck of salt?
Thanks to episode eight, “Sweet Vitriol”, many of Mrs. Cobel’s back history were exhausted. We know that she has grown into a light company, which is now almost deserted, and that most who still live are – thankfully to light – addicted. We learned Cobel’s mother, who was one of those ethereal addicts as she lived, hated light. We also learned that Cobel was a talented student who won the prestigious Wintertide Fellowship, and that Jame Eagan stole his projects for the severe process and handed over the invention as his own.
That everything certainly explains much of her behavior so far: her strange devotion to Kier’s worship, something she was involved with her whole life; Her scary interest in Mark both inside and out of work (as his completion of a cold port is somehow linked to the success of a severe), her extreme reaction when she was fired from light, and (as we saw in “The After Hours”) her apparent decision to help Mark and Devon just as Gemma’s time is running out.
Where is Kier, PE?
No idea yet. But it’s not just snowy roads: you can make a train far away if you need to escape Kier, as Irving does in “the next hours.”

Who is on “the board”?
No idea yet. The only agans we met are Jame and Helena. Could it be more?
What is the deal with Natalie?
Again, no idea. If the season finale reveals Natalie is Innie, whose outsider is the completely opposite of a “PR person with a death ray smile”, it would not be completely surprising.
Why does light want Ricken to rewrite his book for Innies?
However, we do not know, except there may have been a way to light up his hooks in Mark’s family – because we now know exactly how valuable he is for the company. Ricken was not seen much in the second season, although his portrayal in the lightning speed “Chikhai Bard” suggests that his overly manual personality used to be much more charming. The episode was about Mark and Gemma, but also showed the audience that Devon and Ricken’s relationship is not as misunderstood as it seems to be on the current day.
Why is Miss Huang a child?
We know this now: as Mrs Cobel before her, Little Eustace is Wintertide Fellow. She and Mr. Milchick never worked very well together, but he allowed her to graduate. In “The Hours”, we see her being sent off the light office (and her parents, it is mentioned) for a new posting in Svalbard, probably one of a few places on the ground colder than Kier.

Why did Helly lie about her “extra time contingent”?
We learned the answer to that in episode four, “Ve is Hollow.” It was not helpful in that scene, it was the double Helena Eagan. She faked that she was her innie to spy on MDR.
Who is going to talk with payment phones with?
We don’t know, and we may never know, because “the after hours” saw IRV and his dog board, who train from Kier, politely on Burt, with explicit instructions to never return. The best guess is that he was somehow linked to the Antiseverance movement, and spoke to contact, which probably helped him compile that list of names and addresses of separated workers (including Burt).
What happens with the export hall?
We knew it was leading to the trial floor, because we saw Mrs. Casey walk along that long corridor at the end of the first season; In the second season, it is where Dr. Mauer rolls his dental tools, and Mrs. Casey’s escape road, as she tries to find her way out of captivity in “Chikhai Bard.” But we don’t know why it hated Irving’s thoughts, so that his outsider painted pictures of it again and again. With the help of Felicia in optics and design, Irv’s Innie has left some highly converted directions to find its entry, which Helly R. receives after Dylan – the intended recipient – impulsively leaves MDR in “the later hours.”
How will Mark’s reintegration go?
It was not a smooth sailing, with sudden nose, the constant sofa, which appeared to be a trap followed by a short lamp in a comma, and some confusing consciences. The only medical professional who knows his secret, Regi, took off from the equation when Devon decided to call Mrs. Cobel. So that’s not very calm.
Are the macrodate refiners actually doing anything?
Although the details are not quite clear, we know that their work is ordering “scary numbers” and completing files called for places (Allentown … Cold Harbor) has some effect on the test floor.

The goats
We haven’t seen a goat since the episode three, “Who’s alive?”-Unless you calculate details of production drawing like the goat statue on the altar belonging to Mrs. Cobel’s aunt, seen in “Sweet Vitriol.” The goat represents Malice, one of the four issues mentioned as “Domitas” by Kier Eagan as part of his vast Lorego. As for what practical purpose the goats serve in light, and why the employees who take care of them are so strange, we have no answer yet.
Now let’s get the latest questions currently keeping Severance Fans at night, especially now, that there is only one episode to go.

What plan will Cobel, Mark and Devon appear to?
When we last saw this unlikely tripod, they gathered in one of the hollow bolted cabins at the “Birth Return”-a large idea of Devon, along the way-to-be Cobel can talk to Mark’s Innie. Mark and Devon want to save Gemma from their fate of a cold port, and Cobel has some serious explanations, both to the Scout siblings and the very curious public. So what will be their next move? As we have seen, you cannot properly bar your way on the sewn floor of light … much less infiltrate the test floor below. But as we have also seen, light security may be surprisingly porous sometimes – as when the females took away the extra mission in the first season, for example.
And talking about that nasal retreating scene … WTF?
We will be hated by Mrs. Cobel’s description of Devon (pretending to be a light employee) as a woman in need of a discrete entry into the giving birth retirement because “she is one of Jama.” What does that mean exactly? One from jame What? Do you want or unwilling ships for his Agena seed? You can’t just leave that twist in the wind, Severance!
Will Mr. Milchick continue to rebel against Mr. Drummond specifically and perhaps light in general?
Mr. Milchick standing to Mr Drummond, just pointing out that whatever brand does when he doesn’t work is not something he can control – true for any work, but especially Because Mark is separated and becomes quite another man when he steps out that elevator and goes home – it was unexpectedly a joyous moment in “the next hours.” It feels that Mr. Milchick is on the edge of his well-soldier routine for a few episodes now (his reaction to the paintings, his performance review). Could he become an unexpected ennie ally while the season is approaching?

Is this the last one we saw about Dylan, Irving and Burt?
It is quite clear that Miss Huang was gone for good – but what about these other characters? Everyone had what could Be final shipping in “The Hours.” You have to hope that we will at least see what happens to Dylan and his wife of Oute, Gretchen, and may learn whether Burt will face consequences for seemingly breaking light farewell protocol with Irving.
Will Mark have to choose between Gemma and Helly R.?
It would be a loving triangle … except one of the points are two different men contained in a single body. Mark S. loves Helly R. and Mark loves Gemma. No matter, someone will break his heart – as we have seen with Dylan’s agony story in “The Hours.” How will he choose? Or will the decision be made for him, maybe to the point that no one will end up happy? Will Gemma die in the cold port room? Will the sinister Helena Eagan prevail constantly wiping her much, much cooler innie?
And talking about Helly R … why Jame Eagan crawls on MDR?
Which he thinks he faces in one of the final scenes in “The Hours” – his daughter, or her Innie, whom he considers less than human? Why does Helena eat her breakfast eggs raw instead of hard?
No answers. Only questions here.
That brings us to the inevitable biggest questions of all. As will do Severance Customize the third season – will fans remain dangerous on another cliff as the end of the first season?
And by the way, When Will Apple TV+ confirm the third season on the way? And how long will we have to wait to see more?
The Severance Season two finals, unintentionally titled “Cold Port”, arrives next Friday.
