Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the rapid rollout of generating artificial intelligence means that companies will one day need fewer employees to do some of the work that computers can handle.
“Like every technological transformation, fewer people are working on the job of actually starting to automate this technology,” Jassy Tell CNBC Jim Cramer in an interview Monday. “But there is other work.”
Jassie said that even if AI eliminates the need for certain roles, Amazon will continue to hire more AI, robotics and other places.
Earlier this monthJassy admits that as Amazon champions software agents that generate AI and AI-powered, he hopes the company’s workforce will decline in the next few years. He told staff in a memo that it is hard to know exactly where this will be purified over time, but as Amazon’s distorted efficiency has more efficiency, the company’s workforce will shrink.
This is a piece of information that spans the field of technology. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff Claimed last week AI is doing 30% to 50% of the work in his software vendors. Other companies, e.g. Shopping and Microsoft Employees are urged to adopt this technology in their daily work. Krana’s CEO May says Online lenders have managed to shrink their results by about 40%, partly due to investment in AI and the natural labour loss.
Jassy said on Monday that AI will lift employees away from “rotary work” and “make all of our work more fun” while allowing employees to invent better services faster than before.
Amazon and other tech companies have also shrunk their workforce by laying off employees over the past few years. Amazon has laid off more than 27,000 jobs since the beginning of 2022, and in recent months it has announced smaller, more targeted layoffs for its retail and equipment units.
Amazon shares have remained flat so far this year, with Nasdaq shares up 5.5%. The stock is about 10% lower than its February record, while its peers are Megacaps YuanMicrosoft and Nvidia All transactions may be very close Record highs.
