Amazon deploys its one millionth robot, releases generative AI model


After 13 years of deploying robots into their warehouses, Amazon reached a new milestone.

The Tech Behemoth now has 1 million robots in its warehouses, the company announced on Monday. This million -year robot was recently delivered to Amazon Full Facility in Japan.

This figure puts Amazon to reach another milestone: its vast network of warehouses may soon have the same number of robots operating as humans, according to Reporting The Wall Street Journal. The WSJ also reported that 75% of Amazon’s global deliveries are now somehow helped by a robot.

The company also announced that it is releasing a new generative AI model called Deepfleet for its warehouse robots. This AI model, which can coordinate the routes of the robots in the company’s warehouses more effectively, will help increase the speed of its robot fleet by 10%, according to Amazon.

The company used Amazon Sagemaker – the AWS Cloud Studio, which helps build and deploy AI models – create Deepfleet. Amazon trained the model on his own warehouses and invention data.

One millioned Amazon robot represents more than just a number. The company has improved its fleet of robots in recent years, adding new capabilities and models.

In May, the company revealed his last robot, Vulcan. This model has two arms, one designed to rearrange an inventory and another with a camera and a suction cup to catch items. Most notably, these volcanic robots have a sense of “touch” that allows you to feel the items it captures, according to Amazon.

In October 2024, the company announced its “Subsequent Generation Executive Centers,” Which would include 10x as many robots as their current facilities, in addition to human workers. The first of these new robotic operated centers opened shortly thereafter in Shreveport, Louisiana, near the Texas border.

Amazon originally started building his robot skills back in 2012 along with his acquisition of Kiva Systems.
