Fragrance subscription service Scentbird (For $17 a month, the company sends you a month’s supply of fragrances so you can try before you buy) analyzed data from its more than 35,000 subscribers to see which fragrances are most popular in major US cities, from Atlanta to Los Angeles.
Are they as predictable as Southern belles who prefer sweet, sweet floral scents and Pacific Northwest city dwellers who prefer earthy and woodsy? the smells? Or is the most popular perfume something you would never expect in your city? We caught up with Scentbird’s CMO and Co-Founder, Rachel ten Brinkto give low perfumes from state to state. See below which fragrance is available for your situation.
dallas
“Dallas is one of the most vibrant cities in the US, so it’s no surprise that Kate Spade’s In Full Bloom is so popular there,” says ten Brink. “In Full Bloom is a classic rose scent with elegant peach skin and blonde woods. It’s a fragrance that you can dress up or down, and it’ll suit any occasion.”

“It’s the perfect fragrance for glittering nights on the Strip,” ten Brink describes. “It’s full of dark and sensual pomegranate, black orchid, violet and champaca flowers. It’s a fragrance to wear when you’re in the mood to play.”

New York

Atlanta
“Dolce’s tropical floral vibe is perfect for Hotlanta’s hot weather,” says ten Brink. “Bright papaya and neroli, a hint of sweet sugar and a luxurious cashmere base are just right for a sensual statement from the South.”

Boston
“Boston is a place where less is more and locals opt for a laid-back approach and more buttons,” says ten Brink. “So you need a versatile scent. Commodity’s bergamot is light and clean, but complex enough to wear however you want.”

Chicago
“Chicago is always on the go and always up for fun, so a perfume with a lot of energy is a must,” describes ten Brink. “Burberry Brit Sheer is infused with fruity notes of lychee and yuzu, with a tropical glow that will refresh and boost energy levels.”

Washington, DC
According to Ten Brink, “Black Tulip is a sophisticated chypre fragrance with lots of contrasts, perfect for our nation’s capital. Soft violets go against buttery jasmine with dark plum and bright pink pepper. At the base, patchouli ties everything together. It’s gorgeous; it’s easy to see why.” a smell that a charged political city would so welcome.”

Los Angeles
“Los Angeles is as hippie-ish as dramatic: you’ve got Laurel Canyon and In the same city as Hollywood,” ten Brink describes. “So incense fragrances will always be big here. It’s also one of the most fashionable avant-garde cities, so Rag & Bone’s central, minimal aesthetic will fit perfectly there.”

Seattle
“Seattle is all about the outdoors,” ten Brink explains. “You can walk, swim, kayak, go anywhere you want. A beautiful flower fits the city perfectly.
