“Simultaneous” Collection of Oslo-based Design Studios Anderssen & Voll Embodying a seamless blend of comfort, functionality and modern design. The collection consists of AV29 single-seat lounge chairs, AV30 two-person sofas and AV31 three-person sofas, which are characterized by their stylish, lightweight and airy aesthetic.
The laid-back proportions of the collection are designed to go beyond the boundaries between residential and commercial settings, thus providing a low-key sophistication while maintaining practicality. One of the defining features of “simultaneous” is its wide, slender handrail, which extends outward to create a contour inspired by furniture typically found in transport waiting rooms. This design nods, nods to the boundary space, and travelers seek comfort while blending into their surroundings. Co-founder Torbjørn Anderssen stressed the nature of the series, describing the interaction between the handrail and the sofa shell as the “DNA” of the project, a domestication of the universal characteristics of public furniture suitable for both the home and business environment.
The structural elements of the series emphasize durability and elegance. Its foundation consists of a light-shell frame supported by a cast-aluminum crib, and the cushions form a unified body with parallel lines complementing the outward handrail. The range features carefully selected materials such as steel handrails, wooden frames and cast aluminum legs, which can be provided with polished or powder-coated finishes.
To align with sustainable design principles, environmental responsibility is prioritized. Each piece is designed for disassembly, facilitating the separation and recycling of materials at the end of its life cycle. Removable coverings can be easily repaired and renovated, while FSC® certified plywood is used to promote sustainable forest practices. The recyclable aluminum composition helps the recycling production process, reflecting the series’ commitment to reducing its ecological footprint.
