
Day after announcing new AI models designed for US national security applications, anthropic has appointed National Security Expert, Richard Fontaine, to its long-term profit confidence.
Antropic’s long-term profit confidence is a government mechanism that Anthropic claims helps to promote security over profit, and which has the power to choose some of the company’s board. The other members of the trust include a center for effective altruism CEO Zachary Robinson, CEO of Clinton Health Access Initiative, Neil Buddy Shah, and the president of obvious Kanika Bahl.
In a statement, Antropic Director Dario Amodei said that the employment of Fontaine Volos “[strengthen] The ability of the trust to guide anthropic through complex decisions “on AI as it relates to security.
“Richard’s expertise comes in critical time, as advanced AI -skills are increasingly intersecting with national security considerations,” AMODEI has continued. “I have long believed that to ensure democratic nations to maintain leadership in responsible AI development is essential for global security and for the common good.”
Fontaine, who as a trustee will not have financial participation in Antropic, previously served as a foreign policy advisor to the late Senator John McCain and was an additional professor at Georgetown Security Studies. For more than six years, he has led the center for new US security, a national security factory based in Washington, DC, as its president.
Antropic has increasingly engaged in US national security customers as it is looking for new incomes. In NovemberThe company joined with Palantir and AWS, the cloud computer division of the main partner and investor of Antropic, Amazon, to sell AI to defensive clients of anthropic.
To be clear, anthropic is not the only top AI lab after defense contracts.
