Schumer announced a vote on the Short-term Spending Act, or Continuous Resolution (CR) Thursday night, suggesting he said that despite his belief that “the bill is very bad, the potential for shutdowns will have worse consequences for the U.S., which will have U.S. consequences.”

Ocasio-Cortez told Tapper she was worried that CR would give Musk more power and confirmed the custodial agenda to reduce government spending and fire federal workers.
“First of all, if someone holds a town hall, or has seen what’s going on in the town hall, then the American people, the American people (whether Republicans, independents, Democrats) are all interested in the actual filth of Elon Musk and the federal agencies,” she said.
“This ongoing resolution has left Elon Musk with much of the chaos that wreaked havoc on the federal government,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “It encodes many changes. It sacrifices and completely eliminates Congressional authority in order to review these impulsive Trump tariffs he is opening and closing.”

Legislators accuse CR of removing the “guardrail” to ensure that the spending directed by Congress goes where it was supposed to go, adding that “turning the federal government into a mud fund for Donald Trump and Elon Musk.”
“So, for me, Senate Democrats would vote for a few pieces of leverage that we offer for free, and when we are sent here to protect Social Security, protect Medicaid and protect Medicare, it’s almost unimaginable.”
