Apple revealed at Its WWDC 2025 venue That it brings visual intelligence, its AI-powered image analysis technology, to the iPhone screen in iOS 26.
Visual intelligence will now make it easier and faster to do more with the content on your iPhone, Apple says, and it works automatically with any app. For example, if you open social media and see a gray jacket, you can use visual intelligence – accessible by pressing the same button you use to take a screenshot – to do an image search for the jacket on Google’s search and other programs you use often.
Visual intelligence on the iPhone screen offers other shortcuts, such as adding an event to your calendar, based on context. It can extract the date, time and place and pre-reside them in a calendar entry. There is also an option to upload a screenshot to ChatGPT for analysis and additional information.
Apple’s software leader Craig Federighi said developers can integrate Apple intelligence into their programs.
“For developers, you can use software intentions to integrate search skills from your programs into this experience,” Federighi said on stage at WWDC. “We also allow you to look visually through your most used programs with visual intelligence with the iPhone camera.”
