Formula 1 could soon have a new US streaming service home. Apple negotiates to buy the rights as it looks to invest in live sports, the Financial times Reports.
Apple already has offers for Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer. ESPN’s F1 contract ends next year. But Apple will be against ESPN, as well as other bidders.
The latter news comes because Apple enjoys its first successful in-theater hit with its new F1 movie, produced by F1 star Lewis Hamilton. F1-related entertainment at all has a moment. Netflix’s “Drive to Survive” probably launched the sport into the US mainstream back in 2019, and audience of live F1 races generally continued to grow, especially between Young women.
Apple TV did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
