Other good iPads
Photo: Apple
Apple no longer sells these iPads, but these slightly older models are still good options, as long as you can find them for the right discount. I recommend checking third -party traders (such as Amazon,, Best purchaseand B & h). I also suggest a crossover of the price with the latest models to make sure you spend a fair amount less on the older tablet. Older models not mentioned here are increasingly difficult to find and may not be worth it.
iPad Pro (2022, 6th Gen): These iPad Pro Tablets (7/10, Wired Review) Use the same M2 -chip that is within the MacBook Air (2022),, Mac miniand iPad Air (2024). It also has a great mini-guided display (with 120-Hz screen refresh rate) Along with a double camera system (with a LIDAR sensor), a front camera with support for a central stage, as well as excellent speakers and microphones. It matches the original Magic keyboard case,, Second-generational Apple Penciland Apple Pencil with USB-C. I only recommend it if you can find the 11-inch for $ 749 or less and the 12.9 inches for $ 900 or less.
iPad Air (2022, 5 Gen): This iPad Air has an M1 processor (which can also be found in the 2020th MacBook Air), 10.9-inch LCD screen, USB-C port, touch ID built in the upper power button, and support for 5G. It is a great, light tablet that is very powerful for most tasks. It packs support for the Second-generational Apple Pencil,, Apple Pencil with USB-Cand the Magic keyboard case. I just recommend it for $ 450 or less.
iPad (2022, 10th Gen): The 10th Gen iPad comes with an A14 Bionic chip (the same is on the iPhone 12), modern design (also in fun colors), a 10.9-inch liquid retina (IPS LCD) screen, USB-C port, Touch ID integrated into the power button, a 12-megapixel camera, 12-magpixel, and support. It also matches the First-gene apple mark,, Apple Pencil (USB-C),, Magic keyboard sheet,, Smart sheet. It is worth mentioning, however, that the screen is not fully laminated, so there is a gap between the screen and the glass that could make the apple pencil feel less accurate. It is a solid choice if you are looking for a basic, affordable iPad. But seeing as it now is three years old, I only recommend it for $ 260 or less.
iPad Air (2024, M2): This iPad -Aero (8/10, Wired recommends) It’s less than a year, so it’s still a great option. You will have the choice between 11-inch and 13-inch liquid retinal screen, but both are powered by an M2 chip (the same that operates the 13-inch MacBook Air And MacBook Pro of 2022). Additional features include a USB-C port, a touch identifier built into the switch button, and a 12-megapixel sensor in landscape orientation (with support for a central stage). It also matches with Apple Pencil (USB-C),, Apple Pencil Pro,, First-gene magic keyboard caseand the Smart sheet case. I only recommend it if you can find the 11-inch version for under $ 400 and the 13-inch for $ 600 or less.
Excellent iPad successorings
iPad accessories are endless. Below, we stressed some of our favorite to round out your table experience, and you can find more in our A Guide to Best iPad Recharges.
Zugu -case for $ 50: This is our favorite sheet case for the iPad for numerous reasons. It not only lasts (complete with a rigid buffer), but also has a magnetized lid that remains closed and a flap, which allows you to position the screen at eight different angles. The case is magnetic, allowing you to paste it on the fridge safely. It also has a reasonable price, comes in many colors, and has a spot for your Apple pencil.
Satechi M1 wireless mouse for $ 30: We are already great fans of Satechi’s accessories at Wired, and this mouse has not defrauded. It has a comfortable ergonomic design, elegant aluminum ending and smooth movement. It also has a great battery life-with built-in lithium-ion battery, I use it for the past four months and still have to load it.
Mageasy Coverbuddy Case (iPad Pro) for $ 65: This case allows you to magnetically connect it to Apple’s magical keyboard case without having to take the case every time. It feels lasting and does not add too much swelling to the iPad. There is also a crack for the Apple Pencil Pro or the USB-C version. The company also offers the Coverbuddy Lite for the iPad Air (M2).

Logitech Combo Touch (10A-Gen) for $ 160: The combination touch (8/10, Wired recommends) comes with a built -in keyboard, trackpad, and kickstand, making it ideal for doing work on your iPad. It is also removable, so you can easily remove the keyboard when you don’t need it. It connects with Apple’s smart connector, that means you never need to dye with Bluetooth or bother to load it. It is also available for the iPad Pro (M4) (though it adds some weight to such a thin tablet) and to the iPad Air (M2).
Casetify Impact Screen Protector for $ 56: If you are concerned about damage from your iPad screen, I recommend this Cetify protector. It is very thin, has a great touch sensitivity, and is Mostly Fingerprint-resistant (I wiped some Smudges here and there). It is painfully applied-the company delivers a microfiber cloth, a rejection sticker and wet and dry sheets.
Paper -loading sheet case for $ 70: Paper is known for his screen protector, but the company also offers an excellent case. It is designed to feel like a sketch book, complete with a polyester fabric cover, which feels light and high quality. You can also offer your iPad up at two different levels. It does not come with Apple Pencil slot, but is a large flap -closure that avoids not falling. I tested it with the ipad airbut it is also available for the iPad Pro (Both sizes).
Twelve Southern Stay Mini USB-C Hub for $ 52: Ports are limited independently of the iPad model. This hub of twelve south has an 85-watt USB C port with Passthrough Charging, USB-A port, HDMI, and headset. If you have trouble setting it on an iPad with a case, the inclusive Cable of SOCKET-CUSB-C-to-Plug-USB-C will repair this.
Apple Magic Trackpad (USB-C) for $ 129: For extensive trackpad, the Magic TrackPad 2 is a great choice. Instead of physical buttons, it has strong touch sensors where you can feel different levels of pressure on the pad. With support for various iPads gestures, you will not have to touch the screen so much. It automatically matches your iPad with Bluetooth and reloads with the Lightning Harbor.
Logitech K380 Bluetooth keyboard for $ 48: If you prefer an external keyboard, it is difficult to err with the Logitech K380. It is lightweight and portable and can be connected to up to three devices via Bluetooth (with dedicated buttons to change them). The keyboard is powered by AAA batteries that lasted us about four months, so you don’t have to worry about carrying a charger around.
Twelve South Hoverbar Duo 2.0 for $ 80: The hoverbar serves two goals. You can mount it to the side of your bed, kitchen counter or shelf (to view content comfortably and handshake) or you can use the inclusive stand at your desk. With the second-gene version, you can now remove the bracket’s arm and tie it directly to the stand-making it exchange between both modes.
