Monday, Bluesky announced Three updates to improve notifications, allowing users to customize their experience while reciting their notification center and reducing unnecessary alerts.
The updates include the ability to receive action notifications for specific accounts, as well as options to adjust notifying preferences to check which alerts you receive. For example, users can choose to be notified only when some accounts respond to them.
Bluesky users can now navigate to settings and then notifications to set alerts on various interactions, including new supporters, likes, answers, mentions, quotes and reposals. There is also “everything else” that covers general notifications, such as when someone joins with initial package or verification alerts.
Each option can be configured to apply only to accounts they follow or to all, and can also be disabled completely.
Additionally, users can now receive notifications when someone likes their reclaim or rejects content they shared. This feature is particularly useful for people who mainly relocate posts instead of creating original content, helping them feel more involved.
Bluesky said the previous “priority notifications” were replaced. This feature allowed users to filter notifications to receive updates only from accounts they follow. To achieve the same result, users must change an answer, mention and quote notifications to “people you follow only.”

Activity Notification’s new performance is similar to those found on platforms such as X and Threads, allowing users to choose to be notified whenever an account post something new or responds to a post.
To enable this feature, visit a profile and tap the bell icon next to the next button to receive notifications each time that account releases a new post. There is also a separate option for corresponding notifications.
Users can manage their activity notifications in settings, removing accounts from their list if they no longer want to receive updates.
One warning is that accounts can prevent this feature completely, which means that users may not be able to turn on action notifications for each account they want to follow. Account owners can also enable action notifications for the people they follow.
